Chapter One

 

Hawaii Saturday, December 6th 1941

“Do you think you’ll get a long leave for Christmas?” Lu asked, tapping her long fingernails against Adrian’s bare chest. “We could go to one of the outer islands and…” She slowly ran her tongue across her lower lip.

“I’m not sure.” He tried not to snap, but she was becoming possessive and he didn’t want a permanent woman in his life, particularly a spoilt party girl like Luella Morrison. She would betray him the instant a better prospect came along. He had no illusions about that.

He wriggled his feet in the soft warm sand of Waikiki beach and stared at the brilliant blue sea. Old man Morrison was one of the wealthiest men in Hawaii, having settled here years ago. He had married a Hawaiian Chief’s daughter, and prospered. Fat, rich and uncouth were the best words to describe him.

Lu was a beautiful woman, slightly older than his twenty-two years, with olive skin, long black hair and arresting dusky gray eyes. She had a torpedo shaped figure most women could only dream about, and was a Goddess to lust-filled sailors. She was a good time girl and he was more than happy to take advantage of it, not to mention the enjoyment of being the envy of his shipmates on the USS Arizona.  

“I have to get back to the ship and clean up if you want me to take you to the Hibiscus Club tonight.”

She pouted. “Oh, all right. Can you pick me up at the house? About seven.”

They both stood. He gave her a peck on the cheek, but she returned his casual caress with a full blown passionate kiss, pressing her lush breasts into his chest. Her tongue slipped inside his mouth.
